Sophia Obianamma Ofuokwu

Sophia Obianamma Ofuokwu is a Nigerian artist who uses spoken word to express and share feelings and thoughts. Her work explores themes of culture and identity through beats and metaphors, force and sound, and is less focused on conventional poetic forms.  

Sophia’s short story ‘Hold My Broken Boy Together’ is featured in Kinsman Quarterly’s African Diaspora Award, as an honourable mention, and her poem ‘When Food = Love’ appears in the 2022 Brittle Paper Festive Anthology. Sophia was a reader at The Forge Literary Magazine. She is currently an editing assistant at Kinsman Quarterly, and the fiction editor at Akéwì Magazine, a biennial magazine for BIPOC creatives. 

Sophia is also a professional ghostwriter and a registered midwife, with a licence and a certificate that supports her midwifery theatrics.
