THE CARIBBEAN - Guyana
Born and raised in Guyana, Jamella Chesney is a 29-year-old environmentalist and youth mentor who writes about the experiences of women and her West Indian identity. Having lived in six countries over the past 10 years, she has found her way back to her roots and recently resumed creative writing after a lengthy hiatus. Jamella holds an MA in Environment Development and Peace: Climate Change Policy from the University for Peace and a BSc in Chemistry (major) and Creative Writing & Literature (minor) from Stony Brook University.
