Vepaiamele Trief

Vepaiamele Grace Trief is a 16-year-old Ni-Vanuatu student, avid writer, and passionate advocate for women’s rights, gender equality, and climate justice. As a dedicated climate campaigner, she works to amplify the voices of frontline communities, specifically children, in the global call for urgent climate action. In December 2024, Vepaiamele travelled to The Hague, Netherlands, as a NextGen Youth Ambassador with Save the Children to witness the ICJ Advisory Opinion oral hearings, where she took part in media engagements and youth-led events, and wrote and first performed her poem as a powerful representation of the youth of Vanuatu and the Pacific in the fight against the climate crisis.
