Maria Samuela is the author of Beats of the Pa‘u (Te Herenga Waka University Press, 2022), a collection that includes Bluey, a story shortlisted for the 2019 Commonwealth Short Story Prize. Her stories have been published in various journals and anthologies, and broadcast on National Radio; and she’s held residencies in Dunedin and Auckland in Aotearoa New Zealand. She lives in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington, where she is working on her first novel.
